Privacy Policy

Effective date: 20 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Airwave team ('we', 'us', or 'our'), contactable at [email protected], handles data in connection with the game Airwave (the 'Software'). We have deliberately built Airwave to collect and store as little as possible.

Summary

Voice Input

If you use voice control, your microphone audio is transcribed locally by the bundled speech-recognition models (Vosk and Whisper). The audio never leaves your machine and is not sent to us or to any third party. Only the resulting text is used, as described below.

Commands and Multiplayer

Airwave is a networked game. When you connect to a game server and issue a command (typed or transcribed), the text of that command or chat message is sent to that server and relayed live to other clients connected to the same server. This text is used only to run the live simulation; our server software does not write it to disk, log it, or otherwise retain it after it has been relayed.

If you connect to a server operated by a third party, that operator is responsible for how any data you send is handled. Please review that operator's terms before connecting.

Optional AI Command Parsing (OpenAI)

Airwave includes an optional natural-language command feature that is disabled unless you supply your own OpenAI API key. If you enable it, the text of your commands (typed, or produced by the local voice transcription) is sent from your machine directly to the OpenAI API under your own OpenAI account, solely to parse those commands into simulator actions.

We operate no servers for this feature. We never receive your OpenAI API key, and your commands are not routed through us. Your use of the OpenAI API is governed by your own agreement with OpenAI, including its terms and privacy policy (openai.com/policies).

Diagnostic Recordings

Development ('debug') builds of the Software may write voice recordings and transcriptions to a local temp/recordings folder for debugging. This never happens in released ('release') builds, and any such files stay on your machine. We do not receive them.

Distribution Platform

Airwave is distributed through itch.io. Your download, purchase, and account activity on that platform are subject to itch.io's own privacy policy (itch.io/docs/legal/privacy-policy), which we do not control.

Children

Airwave is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. See the End User Licence Agreement for age requirements.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available with the Software and on our website.
